Another Opportunity for the AWF
to Attend in the Asian Inter-Club Championships
|
 |
The Asian Inter-Club Weightlifting Championships will begin in Amman , Jordan soon . A beautiful city in the west part of the world widest Continent which owns one of the world's most famous ancient relics namely 'Petra Palace ' .
In spite of being determined a respite for sending the list of athletes and accompanists of different teams by the AWF , in order to organize the competition as well as possible , the AWF has offered a new opportunity to the continent's clubs to use it to be able to send their lists if they didn't do it before . It's remarkable that if any club is not able to participate in the mentioned competitions , it will lose its chance from participating in the World Inter-Club Cup or the Confederation's Cup automatically which is to be held in 2011 for the first time . Last year , the 7th series of Asian Inter-Club Championship in the Junior category and the 10th series of these battles were held in the Senior category in Uzbekistan in which the representatives of Iran and Uzbekistan could gain the championships titles in the Junior and Senior categories . A considerable point ,that some of the Asian medalists of the recent World Junior Championships held in Bulgaria , were the same persons who had gained titles within the Asian Inter-Club Competitions . In fact they made progress step by step and principally . So we can come to the inclusion that the Inter-Continental Competitions is a bridge to achieving the World's honors and is regarded as a platform for the weightlifters.

The aim of these competitions , is expressing the values of Olympic for the young and delivering the friendship message and respect to distant part of the world. In these games , there will be present about five thousands athletes and coaches from 205 countries of the world so as to compete together in 26 sport fields . Of course the age of the athletes should be between 14 to 18. Meantime it's been forecasted 1200 reporters , cameramen , 20 thousands regional and international voluntary forces and 370 thousands spectators from the all over the world will follow directly and closely the first Youth Olympic . The weightlifting competitions will be held in Toa Payoh Sport Hall and the lifters will compete together in 11 weights from 15-19 August . On the first day of the competitions , the weights of 48 kg Girls and 56kg Boys will start the competitions and it will come to the end by contesting of the Boys 85kg category . It's remarkable , 110 Girls and boys athletes will be present at the Singapore Olympic Weightlifting battle that every country can dispatch two Girl weightlifters and two Boy weightlifters to the competitions. The qualifying competitions of Chiang Mai and the Asian Youth Weightlifting Championships has been considered for determining the quotas of the Asians that in the Girls proportion , China , Thailand , Chinese Taipei and Kazakhstan each one with two quotas , Indonesia , Uzbekistan , Philippine , Malaysia , North Korea , Vietnam , South Korea and India with one quota could gain the opportunity to participate in the Games. In the Boys section , Iran , China , Kazakhstan , Thailand , each one with two quotas , and Indonesia , Chinese Taipei , Vietnam , Uzbekistan , Iraq , Saudi Arabia , Turkmenistan and N. In Bulgaria Competitions ,
the Expectations are more than the
Romania Competitions
|
 |
The World Junior Weightlifting Championships in 2010 will be held in Sofia , Bulgaria during the days of 11-20 June . On the contrary of the last year which was held by the hosting of Bucharest ,it's expected the quorums of this series of the competitions achieved by the champions of the fifteen weights of Men and Women would have an acceptable gap with the World records .
In the 2009 Junior Women Weightlifting Championships , the Asian girls owned the all gold medals and the boys of this continent owned the first titles of the three first weights and also in +105 kg category ,however ; what would be considered at the end of the competitions , was a great gap between the achieved quorums with the world records . In the Women's portion the minimum gap was 17 kg. and the maximum gap was 38 kg between the achieved records with the world records , and in the Men's portion the minimum gap was 7 kg – in Snatch Movement in 56 kg. cat. - and the maximum gap was 41 kg .which was regarded very strange . This indicates that in some weights , the level of the competitions was not as it was expected and was far from the general expectations .
Meantime when we had a glance at the Junior Men and Women's Record Table , we notice that in the Men's portion , some records has not been changed for ten years and the latest record setting returns to 2008 . It means that it hasn't been registered a new record in 2009 . In the Women's portion too , there is a similar situation . The most of the record breaking has been taken place in 2003, 2005 and 2007 and except the Russian lifter –KASHIRINA Tatiana who succeeded improve the record of +75kg (Snatch and total )during the Go Yang Competitions , the other latest record settings returns to 2007.
Thus , the first expectation for the competitions of this series of the World Junior Championships which considered as the 16th series in Junior Women and the 36th in Junior Men ,is improving the acquired quorums by the champions of different weights and at least setting one or two world records . In this case it means that the Sofia battles will be a jumping-off place in the World Weightlifting .

Turkey, the Place to Improve
the World Super Heavy Weightlifters’ Records
|
 |
The World Weightlifting Championships which is considered as the 21st cycle for the Women and the 78th cycle for the Men will be held in Antalya, Turkey during the 17-26 September. In this series, the general expectation is setting of new world records and also is improving the situation of the competitions among the heavy weights. A glance at the results of the World Competitions since 2005 up to now ( beyond the 2008 Beijing Olympic ) indicates that the records of the champions in the weights of 94kg. , 105kg. And +105 kg .of Men has been decreased year to year and in fact the level of the competitions has been lessened in these weight categories.
In 2005 , during the DOHA , Qatar Competitions , the champion of the +105 kg. was REZAZADEH Hussein form Iran who could lift 461 kg. In that year Klokov Dmitry from Russia became the champion with 419 kg in total movements and PASHAYEV Nizami from Azerbaijan in the weight of 94 kg stood on the first stand with 401 kg at all .
In 2006 the World weightlifting Championships were held in Santo Domingo in which REZAZADEH Hussein became the champion of the +105 kg. weight with 448kg in total . DOLEGA Marcin from Poland owned the gold medal of the 105 kg. with 415 kg and ILIN ILYA from Kazakhstan was the champion of the 94 kg with 392 kg.
In 2007 that CHIANG MAI , in Thailand was hosting the competitions , the gold medal of the +105 kg. reached to SCERBATIHS Viktors from Lithuania and he became the first with 442 kg. Of course ARAMNAV Andrei from Belarus in the weight of 105 kg could take a good reason along with the recent competitions with 423 kg. and stood on the first place . The gold medal of the 94kg category was allotted to KONSTANTINOV Roman from Russia who could raise 397kg in total .
In 2008 , the Olympic competitions were held instead of the World Championships.
In 2009 , the Competitions were held in Go Yang , S. Korea in which An Yong-Kwon became the champion in the absence the celebrities of this field with 445 kg in the super heavy weight . DOLEGA Marcin from Poland repeated his 2006 championship and this time with 421 kg and in the absence of ARAMNAV Andrei leant on the first place in the 105 kg category . In the 94 kg category , SEDOV Vladimir from Kazakhstan became the champion and could draw the attention of people to himself with 402 kg in total .
A glance at the records of these three weight categories indicates that some records haven't been changed since 1999 . And in other words , in order to reach the quorum of 472kg in the +105 kg , 436kg in the 105 kg and 412 kg in the 94 kg , the current weightlifters should do their best . The Turkey competitions can be an occasion to approach to the World records of these three weights . It's forecasted that the most celebrities of these weights will be attended in Turkey .

Of course , China hasn't nominated its representative in this weight and it not impossible for them to introduce one another phenomenon this year .

Anti-doping operations likewise continue in Weightlifting and this affair will be extended so as to be uprooted this issue of using illegal of tonic substances. In order to fight against doping seriously, the rate of the Out of the Competition tests even has been increased and recently we were the witness of the WADA officers' presence in Emirate and Turkey who tested the weightlifters of the both countries and the Kazakh weightlifters too who had camped in Turkey out of the competitions.
Likewise, the IWF anti-doping policy has been applied more seriously since 2001, somehow every year about 1200 up to 1500 tests of the lifters in different competitions and also out of the competitions have been done. Due to the 2005 statistics, 1211 doping tests were done on Men and Women weightlifters which this figure has increased to 1483 number in 2006 and in 2007, 1477 athletes from different countries were tested. Although the year of 2008 was one of the least busiest year for the anti-doping officers and they just took 650 samples from the weightlifters , in 2009 the numbers of the tests increased and 1493 athletes were tested on and this was the highest figure in the statistic in the recent years. This number of tests were taken during the championships ( Senior , Junior and Youth )of various continents , out of the competitions , the World Weightlifting Championships held in Go Yang ,Korea and even in Training , Asian Inter-Club Championships and the within the Big Prize in different parts of the world and more than 95 percent of these tests have been sent to Cologne Lab in Germany.

After elapsing a period of a twenty-years interval , the Iraq Weightlifting has been situated in the growth circulation . We can easily get this theme from the result taken through the Asian recent Youth and Junior Championships held in Tashkent , Uzbekistan . Of course , last year the Iraqi weightlifters ,during the past Asian Youth Championships held in Emirate indicated that in the Youth category they had had vicissitude. They succeeded to get the forth position in the team ranking , with 5 young weightlifters in Boys portion in the 2009 competitions . In the Junior category , they also shined brightly somehow in which they just with 5 points difference less than the Uzbeks stood in the second place of Asia and put China away .
But this year during the Asian Youth and Junior Championships ,the Iraqi weightlifters have made some progresses in the both Youth and Junior categories . They , with 46 points difference in comparison to China the Champion were located in the third position of Asia in the Youth category . In the Junior category , the work of the Iraqis was wonderful , since this team could put away Uzbekistan team containing the championship title defender and with 56 scores more than the second- place winner team placed on the first position of Asia . Of course , it should not be ignored easily the excelling of the Uzbeks during the past two years among the low-aged competitors . These countries by investing on the young weightlifters , intend to show lustrous days in the future by their Senior Men or Women and it is not impossible for us to witness these countries' lifters gaining medals during the 2012 Asian Championships to be held in S. Korea. Anyway this issue indicates that the growth of the Asian Weightlifting does not restrict in the East districts of it and other Asian countries try to raise up their own abilities to gain the world high standard levels in the International battle fields by understanding the special situation of this sport field .

Chen Xiexia the Chinese lifter of 48kg. category , the champion of 2008 Beijing Olympic who is 27 years old right now , is in scruple of continuing or saying good bye for the professional weightlifting world . She who in 2007 , during the World Championships to be held in Chiang Mai had succeeded in gaining the gold medal by haltering 214kg . in total movements , could not obtain a considerable title in the last year's 11th National Games of China because of her serious injuries . Chen Xiexia was born in Guangzhou which is the venue of the 16th Asian Games and has started the Weightlifting Sport from the age of 9 . But the continual injuries happened to her recently has forced her to say good bye probably to the weightlifting world and would prefer to guide the participants as a volunteer during the 2010 Asian Games .
He herself says ," I'm in a difficult circumstances and hesitate to continue or stop my job . In order to gain the World Titles in this field of sport , it is an obligation to exercise hard ,but due to my physical situation I don't dare to compete in the world championships . "
It's mentionable , she will be married soon and we wish a successful life in her new living route .

South Korea , the Last Battlefield of the Asian Weightlifters before the London Olympic
|
 |
By the decision made of the Asian Weightlifting Federation , S. Korea was determined as the host of the Asian Senior Weightlifting Championships in 2012 , so S. Korea is the last site for gaining the 2012 Olympic quota for the contenders of this sport field in the continent .
S. Korea was held the 2009 World Weightlifting Championship in Go Yang and did it very well . Meantime , the Asian Inter-Club Competitions and also the Asian Youth and Junior Weightlifting Championships were held in Go Yang and Jeonju , Korea . Now it seems that S. Korea has some valuable experiences in holding the International creditable and enjoys the up-to-date standards in running the formal competitions perfectly .
This country , because of its form of management and organization has had a very good growth within the past years in weightlifting and that Korea could gain the second place of the World Championship in the two portions of Men and Women in 2009 indicates that the Korean are seriously endeavoring to get high levels .Meanwhile they prove that they are interested in and able to host the international and inter-continental competitions which it’s expected such interesting and anxiety to happen among other countries.

The AWF Efforts towards
Weightlifting Promotion in Asian
|
 |
Beyond the plan , any sport field needs hardware facilities so as to be able to achieve its definite goals . The weightlifting sport , also on its own part , is not an exception and of course the existence of some standard equipments for training , exercising and competing is considered as a immediate obligation . For this intension , the Asian Weightlifting Federation has been endeavoring a lot in order to increase the public intensions to the Weightlifting sport by providing with the introductions and other developmental requirements of this attractive and medal bringer sport field . Organizing and holding regular Inter-Club Competitions , Youth and Junior championships , Continental Championships , Seminars and instructive classes and constant participation in creditable International competitions , are some examples that the AWF managers emphasize on them strongly .
For this reason , some weightlifting equipments like barbells , plates , weights and also some series of Referee Management System were sent in a free manner to some developing countries (in aspect of sport) which this affair was welcomed very much by the related countries . In fact their motivation and intension have become doubled towards advancing ahead because they believe that AWF has paid a special attention to them and how their attendance in inter-continental and international battlefield is important .
Accordingly , within the recent Asian Competitions held in Tashkent , Uzbekistan , some weightlifting equipments were awarded to Sri-Lanka , Iraq, Tajikistan , Turkmenistan , Indonesia , Pakistan , Bangladesh , and Afghanistan . Meantime , some sets of the Referee Management System were offered to Iraq , Afghanistan , Bangladesh and Uzbekistan in a free manner surely by the cooperation of IWF .
Thus , it's expected a new chapter of weightlifting progress has been shaped in some developing countries in Asia and the weightlifting growth will take place in acceptable and the same rate in all over the continent.

It’s also decided to be held the Inter-Club Championships in the categories of Junior and Senior in Bangladesh. Bangladesh held the 11th South Asian Games ( weightlifting Competitions ) and it’s expected by gaining a good experience , to be a good host for the Inter-Club contests .

Contending for the Entrance to the Youth Olympic Weightlifting Competitions
|
 |
The Asian Youth and Junior Weightlifting Championships will be held in Tashkent , Uzbekistan during the days of 7-16 April , 2010 .
In these battles the representatives of 20 Asian countries will be attendance and it is forecasted at least 150 Girl and Boy weightlifters will contest tightly so as to gain the championship titles as well as the Olympic quotas for the first Youth Olympic Games to be held in Singapore this year .
The Asian Youth and Junior Championships are followed every year with a desirable discipline and due to some kind of interpretations the next champions of the continent will be introduced from the heart of these competitions . Last year , the U A E was the host of the Asian Youth and Junior Championships and of course Uzbekistan owns the experience of holding the Asian Inter-Club Championships in last year .
It seems that since the Asian Girls and Boys’ competitions in this cycle is considered as the qualification for attending in the first Youth Olympic Games , the most powerful countries of the continent in this field would like to participate in this Championships in Tashkent . Of course the big absent of these battles is Iran which in spite of the previous year , it will not attend in this cycle of the competitions and this matter will affect somehow the qualities of the competitions.

The Asians , the World’s Best Weightlifting
in the year passed
|
 |
The International Weightlifting Federation , due to its common way , has processed to poll from its web-users in order to select the best man- woman lifters in 2009 . And since the criteria of this polling , has been considered the title of the weightlifters who have been participated in Go Yang World Championships , from the best 15 man-woman weightlifters in the past year mentioned in the list , 13 people are from Asia . In the Women portion , in the 69kg. that Avdalyan Nazik from Armenia is considered as one of the candidates , the other people are from . China , Kazakhstan and S. Korea .
The presence of Jung Miran’s name once more in the mentioned list , is a considerable point in the voter’s minds in women’s category . The Korean weightlifter of +75 kg. who has ever created honors and proud in the International competitions since 2005 , improved her own Clean& Jerk record for 1 kilo in Go Yang last year. However , it seems that the fortune of Pedovedova the Kazakh weightlifter of 75kg. to be more than the other to be elected as the best lifter in 2009 who could improved the world records for the four times in Go Yang World Championships. She is 23 years old. The Kazakh weightlifter was nominated as the best weightlifter in aspect of points with 329.98 points in the World Senior Championships .
In the Men’s portion , there are 7 Asian weightlifters to be selected as the best weightlifter in 2009 . In fact Dolega Marcin ,the champion of 105 kg category from Poland is the single non - Asian in the list . It can be said that choosing the best among the men is more difficult than among the women in 2009 . Although , the championship of An Yong-kwon from S. Korea in +105 kg. in the absence of the famous champions of that category , was completely unexpected in the Go Yang Competitions , we can’t pass easily by the names like Long Qingquan , LIAO Hui, LU Xiaojun , LU Ynog from China and Sedov Vladimir from Kazakhstan . It’s remarkable that the title of the best weightlifter in the aspect of the points reached to LU xiaojun the lifter of 77kg. category from China within the World Senior Championships who was the single record breaker in the Senior competitions. He could improve the records of Snatch and total of that category . He was selected as the best man weightlifter with 476.29 points in those battles.
Anyway , it seems that the Asians can gain valuable titles again in 2009 best weightlifter polling so as to indicate their competency for everybody . This result was not possible if the procedure of the long-term programs of the AWF authorities and of course the seriousness of the Asian countries haven’t been constituted which cause the motivation of people towards weightlifting grows increasingly day to day and to be felt its importance towards enhancing its international credit more than before.

The Hard Work of the Asians in 2010
|
 |
The year of 2010 should be considered as a hard year for the Asian Weightlifters . Since the steel-men of this wide continent in 2009 have owned the all international titles and now it’s expected them to gain the same honors in 2010.
The current year started by holding the Arab Championships in the two categories of the Youth and Junior for the Asians and after that , the 11th South Asian Games were held in Bangladesh. However, beyond the inter–continental competitions such as the Asian Youth and Junior Championships to be held in Tashkent , the Common Wealth in India , the Asian Interclub Championships in Jordan and the Asian Games in 2010 in Guangzhou that are fields for the Asian Competitions , the most important competitions like the World Youth Championships in Bulgaria ( in June ), the 2nd World University Students Competitions in Chinese Taipei ( in July ) the Youth Olympic in Singapore ( in August ) and the World Senior Championships in Turkey ( in September )will be faced by the Asian Weightlifters and the variety of them has caused they confront with difficulty in reaping the super titles .
On the other hand , when we refer to the results of the 2009 International battles , we notice that in the all international scenes , the titles of championships in the two categories of the Men and Women allocated to the Asians so, it can be said that the expectation from the Asian weightlifters has increased. In the 1st World Youth Weightlifting Championships , held in Chiang Mai , Thailand , Iran in the Boys category and China in the Girls category became the first.
In the World Junior Championships , the Asian Women and Men placed on the first Stance in 11 weights and proved that the world expects their constant shining.
Anyway , the World Senior Weightlifting Championships held in Go Yang , S. Korea , was in fact some repetition of the Beijing Olympic happenings . In these competitions the Chinese reaped almost all the medals and became Champion in the two categories of Men and Women . Of course in the two categories the Korean became the second so as to be shined the talents of the Asian more than before . In fact , it’s expected it will go on the success of Asian lifters and the field of Bulgaria , Turkey , Singapore and Chinese Taipei , will be another venue for the wide continent of Asia to be glorified .

Changing the place of 2nd Islamic Countries Games
|
 |
The 2nd Islamic Countries games will be held by hosting Indonesia . After procrastination of the competition which were to be held in 2009 in Iran , for some unforeseen problems didn't take place at the mentioned time and in the recent session of Islamic Countries International Federation , it 's thwarted with the hosting of Iran and so Indonesia was replaced for it . Of course the exact date of the competitions hasn't been determined yet; however , it won't most probably be changed .
It's remarkable that so far , the organizing authorities the 2nd Islamic Countries games in Iran , have asked for changing some calendars of International Federation because of confronting this cycle of the competitions with different international events so such as the Asian Youth and Junior Weightlifting Championships to be held in Uzbekistan , or The African Youth and Junior Weightlifting Championships in Egypt . At the same time The International Weightlifting Federation had offered its critic points of view about the Competitions which were applied before.
