  Dr. Tamas Ajan remarked during the holding of Asian Weightlifting Championship Competitions in Japan .

  Dr. Tamas Ajan IWF President replied to the questions of Asian Weightlifting Federation Site within the running of the Asian Weightlifting Championships held in Kanazawa , Japan . You can find his candid answers followed below;

How do you evaluate the performance of AWF in organizing and holding the inter-continental competitions as well as different committees' sessions?

As I mentioned in the meeting to AWF General Secretary , in my opinion the performance of this federation is level with the IWF's one and I should confess the weightlifting progress in Asia is wonderful. The quality of competitions holding and also different committees' sessions were acceptable and it ought to be said these competitions are being held in the best circumstances.

How much are you hopeful about the doping issue does not corrupt the world face of weightlifting in 2008 Beijing Olympic?

Olympic competitions have been considered as the greatest sport courts for the all nations in which countries attempt to gain the best positions in the medal tables ranking by using various methods and ways. But among these competitions, some athletes and coaches because of not being aware of the forbidden materials are deprived from competitions and it is sorrowful. So there have been made some stable and firm rules in order that the athletes might be prevented from using these tonic substances. Our goal is controlling the athletes so as to send clean and without difficulty champions to Beijing Olympic and always believe preventing from disease is much better than curing it.

How is the doping situation in comparison to the past years in Asia continent?

Fortunately, it has become better than before and it grows better year after year. Statistic shows in the wide Asia continent, the using rate of tonic substances among the lifters is decreasing.

During the holding Asian Championship Competitions in Kanazawa , eleven quotas accrue to this continent athletes .Would you please give more details?

From the five countries in men's section, seven lifters (the first and second teams of 2008 Asian Weightlifting Championship Competitions each one two quotas and from the rest just a quota) and in the women's section, four lifters among four countries will achieve the quotas. If the doping test's result is positive, in this case some other athletes from other countries will be replaced instead of the former ones. With this eleven quotas, it should be said that Asia will have a large number of representatives in the 2008 Beijing Olympic Competitions.

Does IWF have any plan to raise up the weightlifting sport income of the Federations or countries?

Certainly, any organization or institution requires finance in order to act perfectly. The institution development is formed through its identification and by counting on intense sponsors and paying attention to marketing one can manage considerable symposium and improve the weightlifting sport level.

What is your massage for the AWF members?

Weightlifting is a basic sport, and it should be regarded much more. Asian continent which has forty-four members and take advantages from intelligent peoples is expected to keep the current solidarity and promote the countries' motivations toward participating seriously and colorfully in international and inter-continental competitions. Organizing regular the Youth battles , Inter-clubs , Junior and Senior Championships , holding rich congress ,having definite calendar ,meeting the different committees members each other to have various discussion and so on , are examples that help to speed up growing and blossoming of weightlifting sport in Asia continent with several billiard population . We should notice that ruining is much easier than constructing, so all the countries unanimously to think about the elevating of the weightlifting in the Asian continent and through competing each other should be united and harmonized.

AWF official website in an interview, asked Mr. Salama Jamal Aldden, president of Syria weightlifting Federation some questions about the forth coming Asian Inter-club weightlifting championships.

Mr. Salama's answer: "We will make the best of our effort, holding the Asian Inter-club weightlifting championships at a very high level. We all will do our responsibility to the best of our ability."

The Asian Inter-club 5 th junior (Male & Female) and 8 th Senior (Men & Women) weightlifting championships will be held on December 14 th -22 th , 2007 in Damascus , Syria .

In this regard, you are kindly requested to pay attention to the following interview taken with Mr. Salama Jamal Aldden, president of Syria weightlifting Federation.

Interviewer: Could you tell us more about the Asian Inter-club weightlifting championships to be held in your country?

Mr. Salama's answer: As you already know, according to the timetable of the above Competitions, the organizing committee of Syria and all of out colleagues should organize and hold the aforesaid championships on December 14-22, 2007 in capital city of Syria .

The rigistration from of the competitions has already been sent to National affiliated countries.

The Delegates and representatives of participating countries will take part in the respective congress.

It should be added that the congress will be held on December 13 th and the competitions will begin on December 14 th . To honour the memory of late president of Syrians, Mr. Hafez Assad, we decided to hold the above championships in commemoration of our last president who passed away a few years ago.

The title of Inter-club weightlifting championships would be like this: "First president Hafez Assad Cup."

Interviewer: Approximately, How many teams should each of the participating countries have during the competitions?

Answer: Each county has the right to have two representatives (teams) in the course of the above championships.

In the end, valuable trophies, awards will be presented to the top three winning teams.

It's worth saying that, the Technical committee meeting in addition to the opening ceremony will both be held on December 14 th .

Interviewer: w hat is the purpose of allocating the trophies to the winning teams?

Answer: In my opinion, this is the best way of encouraging the participating athlete to continue the competitions more hopefully. It will help them to become more vigorous and powerful rather than before. According to the above, It is obvious that the Asian lifters will be able to make great progress to the upcoming championships to be held in near future.

Interviewer : c ould you give us more information about the program and schedule of the competitions?

Answer: The Asian Inter-club junior (Male & Female) begins on December 14 th and finishes on December 17 th at 9:00 a.m in the morning.

The senior (Men & Women) will be held on December 18-20.

Interviewer: What kind of preparations, amenities and contrivances have you planned for the competitions?

Answer: My colleagues and I have done our best to provide all the required equipments, facilities for the above championships. We will provide all the guests with the best accommodation & Board at one of our five star Hotels available. I hope all the participating teams and representatives will enjoy staying in Syria .

I hope their trip to Syria will be an unforgettable memory entire their life.

Interviewer: c ould you make a prediction about the presence of the participating teams?

Answer: I hope all the participating teams will achieve an enormous success in the course of Inter-club weightlifting championships. The active present of the athletes will undoubtedly increase and elevate the quality and standard of all the continental and international events. They will take an opportunity to break the new Asia & world records as well.
