By holding the beginning ceremony in Beijing , China , the 26 th Olympic competitions will begin formally on 8 October. The athletes of weightlifting also will attend in these competitions so as to own 45 gold, silver and bronze medals. It is sayable that weightlifting sport, has been among just a few Olympic sports since the first series of the competitions started in 1896. Then, weightlifters have been participated in 22 rounds of Olympic competitions except 1900, 1908 and 1912. The International Weightlifting Federation which started officially it own activities in 1905, has 181 members right now. The weightlifting sport beside the Shooting sport is considered the third in medal offering aspect. In the former period of Olympic Games held in Athens 2004, the representatives from China , Thailand , Indonesia , North Korea and South Korea in women's section and the athletes from China , South Korea , Kazakhstan and Iran in Men's section have gained medals for the Asian Continent.
