Organization History

Weightlifting Anciently Received prominent role due to sings of power ness over other people in field of completive ness and in Asia arena grew rapidly and produced mythical champions.
Following establishment of world weightlifting in 1905 and fused with rule of law at global level plus developing of national federation paved the way to form federation at continent level so as to improve weightlifting sport globally.
Under such conception the Asian states set out the primary stage and made weightlifting federation continently in 1958 concomitantly conducted Asian Japanese – Tokyo championships plus oceanic states (AWF) under leadership of “Mr.Abdulmajid Bakhtiar” from Iran and 24 members with following targets:

To arrange championship sports and tournaments with IWF and AGF contribution free of any ethnic, color, religion or political orientation.

Asian sports formulated yearly except Asian and Olympic sports.

Training for coaches and refreeze for members of federation under IWF to develop related potentials.

To set list AWF of Asian sports and records.

Receiving reports on affiliated federations and to issue statements.

To issue data to exploit by and membership.

The secretariat of Asian weightlifting federation shifted to Singapore under leadership of sakurai from Japan and Mr.Michael koay as secretary general proceeded.
Meanwhile the said federation relocated in Iran under successful young heads as Mr. monico puentevela as a president and Mr.Ali Moradi as secretary general to continue the job , therefore the Asian federation decisively aimed to make progress forward at globe rate with 41 national members of federation.
